The roots of the Manheim automobile yard leave in 1945. It was during this period when in a small village of Manheim vehicle vendue was held. The first yard starts with three used autos, and only one was sold to a new owner.
The organizers of the yard were four local businessmen: Paul Stern, Art Walters, Jacob Rahlol and VZ Mellinzher. After some time, connecting ideas and financial resources, they bought a farm nearby.
The idea proved to be relevant. From the first years auto vendue had dramatic growth in sales: from 200 used cars per week in 1948 to 700 cars in 1967. The success of Manheim Automobile yard became so obvious that in 1967 the corporation Cox Enterprises (Georgia) bought it from founders. Since 1968, at the auctions the so-called local automobile vendue are conducted. Previously only dealers could participate in auctions for particular yard marks (Mercedes, BMW, Chrysler, etc.). Local auto auctions are held now.
By the beginning of the 80-ies Manheim sold weekly from 1200 to 1400 used vehicles. Rapid development of technology has led to sales that were carried out at classic auto vendue, damaged vehicle auctions. These auctions were organized by the automatic electronic registration and a local computer network.
At present, online vehicle auctions appeared. If you wish to take part in these auctions, you don’t need to leave the office or home. This technology is actively used by dealers from different countries.
